The Hybrid hard

Danny Brown is a wild-haired, missing-toothed, and squawky-voiced rapper from Detroit who is currently one of the best rappers in the industry. Equipped with immense rapping ability and the perspective of a man who has seen the worst sides of city life, Brown has two almost entirely different styles and personalities. Their is the fun party Danny Brown, who can rap tirelessly about smoking weed and popping mollies while giving in-depth analysis of his recent sexual exploits. On the other hand is reflective Danny, one who paints vivid portraits of what it was like to grow up in extreme poverty in Detroit in a low, gruff voice. Much of his album fodder is based around his rather advanced age for a newcomer to the upper echelons of rap (He is 32), and he often reflects on how he should mature, whether to continue using drugs or to mature, and what it really means to grow up. I am going to post two songs from his 2013 album Old to show the two sides of Danny Brown. The first is "Kush Coma", a song that shows his more party side, though in the lyrics you can see Danny struggling with his drug use. This song is pretty dope, with its gigantically awesome chorus and a frantic beat that really bumps. A$ap Rocky also has a great feature on the track. The other song is "Float On", where Danny raps about how he uses drugs as self medication sometimes. At a much more laid back pace than "Kush Coma", "Float On" has a really solid beat, with the intnermittent pop of a drum or high hat, but the beat is not nearly as elaborate as in "Kush Coma". Danny Brown is one of my favorite rappers and I really hope you like him. If you like this check out his fantastic 2013 album Old, his 2011 mixtape XXX, his single "Grown Up", and the multitude of guest spots that he has done.
