House With a Solid Foundation

British brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence released probably the best electronic album of 2013 with the superb Settle. Their bouncy, synth-heavy house beats drive the album along at a rapid pace, and each song is bass heavy and perfect for the dance floor. These young guns (Guy's 22, Howard's 20) get assistance from fellow London up-and-comers with the vocal tracks, such as Sam Smith, and a momentous team-up with fellow British electronic duo AlunaGeorge. The two tracks I am including are "Latch" (feat. Sam Smith) and "White Noise" (Feat. AlunaGeorge). "Latch" is absolutely triumphant, Sam Smith's soulful howl feels just as comfortable with a synth backing as he would with a piano and some strings (their is also a quite fantastic acoustic version of this song). Aluna Francis' voice is pretty perfect for electronic music, with its seductive purr and a sly, under-the-radar power. She draws you in, and the songs infectious beat keeps you hooked. These guys are a force to be reckoned with, and they have started producing for rappers, watch out for Disclosure in 2014.
